Derrick Rose Becomes Youngest MVP Ever

Derrick Rose Received the MVP on TuesdayAny fan of Derrick Rose or the NBA for that matter has seen the multiple clips of Derrick Rose at the beginning of the season. Begging the question, why can’t he be MVP? This was a pre-cursor to one of the most impressive individual seasons for a player in many years.

Rose was officially announced as the 2010-2011 NBA MVP on Tuesday, joining Michael Jordan as the only other Bulls player to win the award. Rose led the Bulls to 62 wins and dazzled crowds across the nation with his high flying finishes.

At just the age of 22, Rose is the youngest MVP in the history of the NBA. Makes you think, what is this kid going to do before his time is up in the NBA? How many more MVP’s will he win? How many championships will he lead Chicago to? It looks as if Rose is taking the challenge of living up to Michael Jordan in stride. Other players such as LeBron James and D’wayne Wade wished not to sign with Chicago and play in the shadow of Michael Jordan. Right now, Derrick Rose is chasing that shadow.

I believe Rose’s attitude far exceeds his amazing talents. On the topic of Michael Jordan, Rose replied “I’m not even touching that many right there, I’m far away from him, if anything it would be great to be considered close to him.”

Statistically Rose led the Bulls to 62 wins while averaging 25 points, and 7.7 assists. Derrick Rose has elevated his game and put himself into the NBA’s elite group of players.

Just how close was the MVP Race? Let’s go to the numbers to see who was in 2nd place.

Derrick Rose – 1,182 Points

Dwight Howard – 643 Points

3rd, 4th, and 5th place went to LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant.

At just 22 years of age, it’ll be a helluva ride to watch as Rose progresses, gets better, and wins more accolades. Hopefully the next on his list is a NBA Championship.
